“Huddle Malaysia,” organised by SparkHub, featured discussions on Maldivian startups and marked the company’s first international event.

SparkHub said the gathering was designed to bring together Maldivian founders and professionals based in Malaysia, with the aim of reconnecting the business community across regional borders and reviving entrepreneurial spirit. The organisation added that the initiative seeks to reduce geographical barriers for Maldivian entrepreneurs and share insights on building businesses at the international level.

According to SparkHub, Huddle serves as its flagship platform for networking and storytelling, offering founders an opportunity to establish connections while exchanging experiences, lessons and perspectives.

The company noted that presentations by four founders highlighted both optimism and adaptability.

Pluk founder Mohamed Fauzan spoke about his journey in developing an AI-powered product for the fintech sector. Family Room co-founder Afrah reflected on his transition from working as a forensic specialist to entering the coffee industry, sharing his experience in building the Maldives’ first specialty coffee brand and expanding the concept with a second outlet in Malaysia.

Tiny App Studio founder Maail said the company has launched more than 20 applications as an independent developer, explaining how side projects were transformed into world-class ventures through user feedback. Oviato co-founder and chef Shafiu discussed the project’s design roots and his work in making modern technology more accessible, drawing on his experience in creating consumer products used by millions. He added that he is currently developing a user-friendly digital wallet.

Speaking at the event, which drew more than 50 participants, Jinan said SparkHub’s programmes, platforms and community models developed since 2018 have been tested and proven in the Maldives, and that taking Huddle overseas marks the first step in supporting Maldivian founders wherever they are based.

Jinan added that this year represents a turning point for SparkHub, as the organisation works toward building an international Maldivian startup ecosystem beyond national borders.
