In a ceremony highlighting the growing relationship between the Maldives and the Russian Federation, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented Ali Fauzy with the Medallion of Service in recognition of his contributions to bilateral cooperation.

The award was presented at a high-level function on January 22, hosted by Consul General Aleksei Idamkin and led by His Excellency Levan S. Dzhagaryan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Maldives. The honour recognises the “impeccable service” rendered by Fauzy since his appointment as Honorary Consul.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Dzhagaryan presented the ‘For Cooperation’ medal, conferred by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, acknowledging Fauzy’s role in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.

Fauzy, who is also the Managing Director and co-founder of the award-winning construction firm Steel Hardware, has played a key role in facilitating cooperation between Russia and the Maldives. Since assuming office in July 2023, he has supported high-level economic engagement and provided assistance to Russian nationals residing in and visiting the Maldives.

Presenting the award on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Dzhagaryan highlighted Fauzy’s contributions in several areas, including the provision of consular services to Russian tourists, the promotion of trade and investment through his business network, and efforts to strengthen cultural and people-to-people relations.

In his address, Ambassador Dzhagaryan praised Fauzy’s professionalism and dedication, noting that his work has enhanced cooperation and ensured quality support for Russian citizens in the Maldives.

Accepting the medallion, Fauzy said the recognition reflected the importance of friendship and trust in building lasting partnerships between nations.

The ceremony underscored the strategic importance Russia places on its relationship with the Maldives. Under Ambassador Dzhagaryan’s leadership and Fauzy’s local coordination, bilateral cooperation has remained stable, particularly in tourism and emerging trade sectors.

For Fauzy, the honour reflects a career combining business leadership with public service. In addition to heading Steel Hardware, he serves as President of the Maldives Industry Chambers, advocating for small and medium enterprises nationwide. His leadership has contributed to the expansion of the country’s construction supply sector and strengthened international cooperation.

Reflecting on his diplomatic role, Fauzy said serving as Honorary Consul has been one of the most meaningful responsibilities of his public life, requiring commitment, discretion and a strong belief in dialogue and mutual respect.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of the business community and industry leaders, marking a collective celebration of a partnership that continues to grow.
