The Ministry of Health has declared the hiring of 60 laboratory technicians as part of the government's initiative to set up diagnostic centers on each populated island this year.

The ministry stated that the technicians will be assigned to hospitals and health centres within its jurisdiction. The compensation package amounts to MVR 12,910, which includes:

Base salary: MVR 5,610

Service grant: MVR 2,500

Housing stipend: MVR 3,000

Meal budget: MVR 1,800

Applicants must possess a diploma in laboratory technology and have two years of relevant experience to qualify. A basic registration certificate that is permanent is also necessary. Candidates under the age of 45 will be given priority.

Applications can be submitted either directly or via registered recruitment agencies, with a limit of five applications per agency. The cutoff for applications is on Tuesday.

The recruitment initiative comes after Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim announced last Friday that enhancing diagnostic services in the atolls is a key government priority. He stated that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has focused on guaranteeing laboratory access even in islands with fewer inhabitants.

Nazim pointed out that at the start of its operations, 76 islands were without laboratory services. He stated that the government is currently focused on making sure that each island will have an operational laboratory by the end of this year.
