Aman was detained at Dhaalu Airport in Dh. Kuduhuvadhoo while trying to transport narcotics onto the island.

Maldives Police Service recognized the individual as a 50-year-old Maldivian from HDh. Neykurendhoo.

The Police stated that he was apprehended during an operation conducted on Wednesday, prompted by a tip to Counter Narcotics Intelligence regarding an attempt to transport drugs into Kudahuvadhoo by air.

During the operation, the suspect was halted and searched in a collaborative effort by the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station and Counter Narcotics Intelligence, resulting in the finding of substances believed to be drugs within two empty film canisters.

The Police stated that the suspect has been detained for 15 days after being brought before the court.

The Police are conducting further investigations into the case.

Drugs continue to be a significant social concern in the Maldives and one of the most frequently reported offenses. In this context, 151 cases related to drugs have been documented this year to date.
