Compared to last year, 7,000 more tourists visited Maldives this January

According to the latest statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals to the Maldives have risen by over 7,000 compared to the equivalent period last year.


This indicates a 3.9 percent increase in arrivals relative to January 2025.


The Weekly Statistics Report from the Ministry indicates that as of Wednesday, 200,801 tourists arrived in the Maldives. In the corresponding period last year, the nation documented 193,174 arrivals.


Resorts comprised the largest share of visitors, attracting 68.8 percent of tourists. Guesthouses received 26.4 percent of visitors, whereas hotels made up 2.7 percent of arrivals.


Russia continues to be the leading source market this year, trailed by Italy and China. The United Kingdom was placed fourth, while Germany was in fifth.



The administration anticipates that 2.4 million visitors will arrive in the Maldives by 2026.
