Police have disposed of a significant amount of confiscated alcohol in Dhoonidhoo, comprising 777 bottles of liquor, 225 bottles of liquor, and 10 additional items.
The Maldives Police Service stated that the items were associated with cases that had progressed to the analysis phase and were seized by Drug Enforcement, Tourist Police, and Hulhumale' Police. The demolition was conducted under the oversight of a committee established following the Rules of Procedure for the Destruction of Liquor and Liquor-related Seized Items.
Authorities observe that offenses related to alcohol continue to be prevalent in the Male' region, especially in Hulhumale', with the majority of suspects being non-nationals. A 25-year-old man from Bangladesh was apprehended in Hulhumale' while carrying 26 bottles of 500ml alcohol.
