Maldivian woman arrested over alleged sexual abuse of 15-year-old boy

Authorities have detained a 35-year-old Maldivian woman, Fathimath Reema, for reportedly grooming, exploiting, and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.


Reema was apprehended on 29 December 2025 in a collaborative operation involving the Family and Child Protection Unit and Crime Intelligence. When she was presented to the Criminal Court for a ruling on her detention, the court mandated that she stay in custody until 28 February 2026.



The police have verified that the case is currently being actively investigated. Officials stressed that grooming children, using them for gang-related activities, and perpetrating sexual abuse are taken extremely seriously. Law enforcement stated its dedication to taking the most rigorous action possible against offenders.
