The Maldives has aligned with 88 nations and international entities in supporting a unique declaration finalized at the end of the AI Impact Summit 2026, which took place in New Delhi from 18–19 February.
The summit united governments, specialists, and industry leaders to enhance global collaboration in the swiftly changing realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The Summit Declaration, based on the principle of “Welfare for All, Happiness of All,” specifies a collective pledge to guarantee that the advantages of AI advancement are fairly shared among all people and that communities are equipped for the significant transformations brought about by the technology.
The statement outlines seven essential pillars, or “chakras,” for promoting worldwide AI progress. These consist of developing skilled human capital, strengthening communities, enhancing the safety and dependability of AI systems, fostering energy-efficient technologies, increasing AI's involvement in scientific research, and using AI to propel economic and social advancement.
A suggested framework named the “Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI” seeks to guarantee that AI technologies and functionalities are reachable to every nation, irrespective of size or economic status. The statement additionally requests the establishment of collaborative platforms like the Global AI Impact Commons and the Trusted AI Commons to share best practices, safety standards, and effective applications.
A crucial element is creating a global network for AI cooperation between scientific organizations, aimed at democratizing access to AI resources and knowledge.
