Dhiraagu has launched two specific Ramadan donation initiatives via its DhiraaguPay platform, allowing customers to easily aid vulnerable communities throughout the Maldives with only a few clicks.

The telecom provider revealed the initiation of “Donate a Meal” and “Donate to a Family,” two organized community assistance initiatives aimed at facilitating charitable donations throughout the sacred month.

Through the “Donate a Meal” initiative, Dhiraagu has collaborated with Mission for Migrant Workers Maldives to provide meal packs to migrant workers close to mosques throughout the Greater Malé Region. The company has pledged 1,000 meal packs to launch the campaign. Customers can also help by donating extra meal packs at MVR 60 each through DhiraaguPay.

Simultaneously, Dhiraagu has partnered with Mom’s Aid to support the “Donate to a Family” campaign. With this partnership, customers can help provide Ramadan care baskets and Iftar packages for families in need across the country. Dhiraagu is directly assisting 100 families by providing essential food care baskets, each worth MVR 1,200. These baskets give priority to single mothers and families looking after children with disabilities. In contrast to the set meal contribution, donors have the option to give any sum towards this initiative.

Both programs are available under highlighted service tabs on DhiraaguPay, with money sent straight to the corresponding NGOs. This straightforward payment system improves clarity while streamlining the donation procedure.

The shift signifies a larger movement among Maldivian businesses utilizing digital payment systems to incorporate philanthropy into regular financial dealings. Ramadan is typically associated with increased charitable contributions, and Dhiraagu’s platform-focused strategy redefines DhiraaguPay as not just a payment method, transforming it into a digital channel for social good.
