Two Indian nationals apprehended for trafficking seven kilograms of hashish oil.

Authorities have detained two Indian citizens on charges of attempting to smuggle approximately seven kilograms of narcotics into the Maldives.


The two men, aged 21 and 19, appeared in court for a remand hearing, during which the judge directed that they stay in custody until Monday. The remand order states that bottles of hashish oil were discovered in their bags, with a temporary weight of 6.7 kilograms. The court was informed by both suspects that they intended to hire attorneys.


The arrests occurred during the same week that a Malaysian woman and two Maldivian men were apprehended in a different case involving two kilograms of narcotics.


The individuals involved in that case are:


- Ranjini Jeevananthan, 38, from Malaysia


- Looth Ibrahim, 29 years old, from G.Dh. Vaadhoo


- Ahmed Rishmah, 21, from G.A. Dhaandhoo / Sunlightvilla


Authorities reported that Ranjini was detained at Velana International Airport, while Looth and Ahmed were apprehended in Male' City.


The court ordered Ranjini and Looth to be held in custody for 15 days, while Ahmed was held for five days.
