A youth from the Maldives held in a Thai prison for a drug-related case has passed away.

The deceased has been identified by the Maldives Police Service on Friday as 22-year-old Ibrahim Nabeeh Naseem, from Fanaaru, Th. Guraidhoo.

Nabeeh was taken into custody by Thai authorities on February 22 at Don Mueang International Airport.

Officials have not revealed the specifics of the drug allegations against Nabeeh, nor the reason for his death.

A police spokesperson mentioned that the Maldives Police Service is collaborating with pertinent agencies to look into the details of the incident.
