Film director Amjad Ibrahim in serious condition at Treetop Hospital

Maldivian filmmaker Amjad Ibrahim (Amjay) has been hospitalized at Treetop Hospital in Hulhumale' as his health deteriorated from fluid buildup in his lungs, family reports.


He is presently undergoing treatment in the hospital's cardiac care unit (CCU).


Amjay is among the most productive directors in the Maldivian film industry, recognized for his work in directing and screenwriting. Throughout his lengthy career, he created numerous films that gained immense popularity among Maldivian viewers, such as Udhabaani, Mila Handhuvaru, Sandhuravirey, Baaraige Fas, Dhin Veynuge Hithaamaigai, and Dhonkamana.



In 2006, he won the National Award for Film Directing in the Performing Arts category, and in 2011, he received a nomination for Best Director at the inaugural Maldives Film Awards.
