Workers at the state-owned waste management firm WAMCO are still experiencing delays in getting their monthly paychecks.
On March 10, user Nishana Moosa posted on X stating that numerous WAMCO employees had yet to receive their salaries for the month.
In an interview with Sun on Tuesday, a WAMCO worker mentioned that employees have not received their pay for three months now. He observed that although a few departments have received payment recently, numerous employees are still unpaid.
In January, the Pension Office disclosed that three state-owned firms, including WAMCO, had not submitted employees' pension contributions for over three months.
At that time, WAMCO stated that even though pension deductions were taken from employee salaries, the company could not deposit the money because of financial issues related to late payments of invoices.
WAMCO made its last pension contribution deposit in October 2024 and has not contributed to the pension fund since then.
