A distinct category has been created for individuals with disabilities to seek flats through the government’s family housing program.

The government has declared that 7,900 apartments will be designated in the Greater Male' region, with 100 apartments set aside exclusively for individuals with disabilities.

The Housing Ministry has established a specific application category for this group. Application forms, eligibility requirements, point‑scoring standards, and guidelines on the application process have been released.

In this category, persons with disabilities can apply even if they are not currently living in Male', as long as they cannot find necessary treatment on their home island or if their family's financial condition inhibits them from residing in Male'. Individuals in Male' who have undergone treatment in the last year are likewise qualified to apply.

Applications for the disability category will be available from 24 March until 30 April. All entries need to be submitted via the Housing Portal.
