Air India has declared a short-term rise in its international flight services, including routes to the Maldives, as airlines react to significant disruptions in global air travel due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The airline announced that 78 extra flights will take place from 10 to 18 March, serving nine important routes linking the Indian cities of Delhi and Mumbai with locations in Europe, the United States, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka.

The short-term increase aims to satisfy the rising need for dependable travel choices as many West Asian flight routes encounter limitations.

With the new schedule, extra services will connect Delhi and Mumbai to cities such as New York, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Malé, and Colombo.

In an interview with Indian media, Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal stated that the airline is maintaining flight operations through safe alternative routes when needed.

He observed that the extra services aim to offer travelers more reliable options amid a time of uncertainty in local air travel.

The short-term boost will introduce 17,660 additional seats on the nine routes.

The airline states that the majority of European routes will utilize wide-body Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner planes, whereas flights to Malé and Colombo will be conducted with the narrow-body Airbus A320neo.

The decision arrives as air travel to the Maldives has been impacted by the conflict in the Middle East, disrupting flights that transit through key Gulf hubs.
