A corpse has been found in the waters of the swimming track in Hithadhoo, Addu City.

The Maldives Police Service stated that the incident was reported around 16:41pm today.

The authorities verified that the individual who passed away is a foreign citizen, but the precise reason for death is still unknown at this point.

The body has been retrieved from the ocean and taken to Addu Equatorial Hospital.

The authorities indicated that the person's identity and nationality have not yet been confirmed, and work is in progress to establish this.

A probe into the conditions related to the death is currently in progress.
