Aviators Maldives has announced a historic rise in the number of private jet arrivals to the Maldives, with 128 jets arriving from February 28 to this past Sunday, marking an 83 percent increase from the 70 jets noted during the corresponding timeframe last year.

The company stated that the increase is associated with the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, resulting in significant flight disruptions at major transportation centers. Due to cancellations and delays impacting commercial flights in the area, affluent travelers are more frequently choosing to fly directly to the Maldives on private jets.

As reported by Aviators Maldives, the average for this time last year was five private jets daily, reaching a high of nine. This year, the daily average has increased more than twofold to exceed 12, with 18 jets arriving on March 3 alone, setting a new record for a single day.

Nevertheless, the Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL), responsible for managing the nation's airports, has not released an official statement verifying the numbers.

The increase in private jet flights coincides with the Ministry of Tourism announcing a 50 percent decrease in tourist arrivals because of ongoing airspace closures and disturbances resulting from the conflict. Since the onset of the lunar month on February 28, Iran has aimed at multiple nations with significant airports, such as the UAE and Qatar, significantly impacting regional air travel.

A top travel operator in the Maldives, Mohamed Firaq, owner of Inner Maldives, stated that the instability has caused numerous business jets from the Middle East to move to different regions of Asia.
