Male' City Mayor Adam Azim states that the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) has stayed consistent in its name and ideology since it was established, despite the rise of new political factions before each election.

While addressing an MDP rally in the Lonuziyaarai region on Thursday night, Azim stated that the party's foundations have remained strong despite changing political environments. His comments were broadly viewed as an effort to bolster assurance among members and supporters in advance of the upcoming elections.

Azim stated that despite the emergence of new political movements with various labels, the most reliable option for the public is to align with established parties that have demonstrated their effectiveness.

He informed supporters that different “anonymous” individuals emerge in the political landscape during elections, creating new parties and offering lofty promises. Nevertheless, he stated that these commitments frequently do not come to fruition after the elections conclude.

Conversely, Azim noted that the MDP has kept its name, identity, and fundamental principles unchanged since it was established, a consistency he referred to as the party’s key advantage in building public confidence.

He stated that the MDP’s title is a distinct and recognized identity in the political history of the Maldives, unlike newer factions that could mislead voters. Azim also raised doubts about the reliability of commitments made by newly established parties, voicing worries about their absence of tangible outcomes.

He urged voters to support the MDP by selecting the party’s emblem, the scales of justice, to guarantee the ongoing implementation of its policies for the advantage of the nation and its citizens.

Azim ended by consistently encouraging citizens to support the MDP in the forthcoming elections, stating that the nation requires sustainable policies and the guidance of a seasoned party to create a stable future.
