High Commissioner Lodhi then delivered an address, expressing warm congratulations to the Pakistani community and highlighting the historic importance of Pakistan Day.
We honor and pay tribute to the steadfast efforts, vision, and resolve of our ancestors that led to an independent Pakistan. Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal envisioned the Pakistan movement, which was later spearheaded by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who faced several obstacles with exceptional intellect, resilience, courage, and determination,” he stated.
Lodhi mentioned that the Pakistani government has designated 2026 as the golden jubilee year of Ali Jinnah’s 150th birth anniversary to celebrate his legacy.
"As we honor this legacy, we must restate our commitment to the principles of unity, faith, and discipline that have brought us here." "We honor our martyrs and heroes, who still instill pride in Pakistan," he stated.
Lodhi mentioned that Pakistan has progressed significantly since gaining independence in 1947.
“Our ancestors laid the national path towards peace, prosperity, and stability while facing intricate issues related to the economy, security, and geopolitical matters.” "The path has been challenging, yet through the determination and persistence shown by the people of Pakistan, we have managed to endure and flourish despite the difficulties," he stated.
Lodhi stated that Pakistan is steadfastly dedicated to multilateral collaboration and diplomacy for peace on all fronts, and strongly upholds the UN charter and the importance of international law. “Pakistan thus firmly urges the execution of UN resolutions in both Palestine and IIOJK.” “On this day, we also recognize the efforts and sacrifices of our Kashmiri and Palestinian brothers and sisters in their pursuit of the inalienable right to self-determination,” he stated.
"Pakistan continues to be unwavering in its dedication to offering moral and diplomatic assistance." We seize this chance to unite in prayer for enduring peace within our community and around the world for all Muslims and for all humanity. Pakistan remains committed to its significant role in encouraging all stakeholders to seek peace through dialogue rather than conflict.
He also emphasized the ties between Maldives and Pakistan, which he noted are marked by shared beliefs, culture, heritage, interests, and reciprocal respect and trust.
“The extent of this collaboration has grown significantly over the years, and with the current administrations on both sides, it continues to thrive on a positive path,” he stated.
The event ended with prayers for the peace, advancement, and prosperity of Pakistan.
