Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Resources and Vice President of the People's National Congress (PNC) Ahmed Shiyam remarked that the election held yesterday was significant, and that the party's defeats in the three votes highlighted what actions must be taken in the future.

The opposition MDP secured the majority of seats in the Local Council Election and the Women's Development Committee Election. Although the MDP won mayoral positions in five cities, the referendum concerning the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections held on the same day resulted in 70 percent of votes opposing it, despite government support.

Considering the outcomes, PNC vice-president Ahmed Shiyam stated that they should be “thoroughly contemplated” and regarded as a chance for transformation. He remarked that the government and the PNC are both concentrating on what lies ahead.

"This election was significant as it highlighted the necessary actions and the direction to pursue." President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assured that the beneficial changes required from the government will be implemented according to the people's wishes," as stated by Shiyam on social media.

Shiyam stated that President Muizzu highlighted the admirable instance of democracy when discussing the election outcomes.

"This administration will persist in offering effective governance to the citizens while accommodating the changes they seek," stated Shiyam.

Following the announcement of the election results last night, President Muizzu stated that the government would initiate beneficial changes reflecting the people's desires.
