A young man passed away from dengue fever on Monday, one day after being moved to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male’.

A representative from IGMH verified that the patient, recognized as a 23-year-old man, passed away on Monday. He was receiving care on a ventilator in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.

He was recognized as Nabhan, a young man from Sh. Milandhoo.

He first received treatment at the Milandhoo Health Center, then was transferred to the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital.

He was moved to Male’ on Sunday as his health kept worsening.

Data released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) indicates that in March, the Maldives reported 535 new dengue cases, a substantial increase compared to the 60 cases recorded during the same month last year.
