The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has predicted significant rainfall along with thunderstorms in various areas of the Maldives on Thursday.
As per the weather prediction provided by the Met Office, valid until 18:00 today, winds in the northern atolls are anticipated to come from the west and northwest. In various areas, winds are expected to originate from the southwest and west.
In general, wind speeds throughout the nation are expected to fall between five and 15 miles per hour.
The Met Office also states that sea conditions across the Maldives will be fairly tranquil, with wave heights anticipated to be between two and four feet. Nevertheless, even with mostly tranquil waters, wind speeds can rise during squalls.
With the Maldives undergoing a transitional weather phase, officials persist in urging mariners to stay alert and practice caution. Given the prediction of significant rainfall, especially in the northern and central atolls, it is crucial to adopt appropriate safety measures when traveling.
Furthermore, due to the possibility of flooding from intense rainfall on certain islands, the public is urged to stay vigilant and implement suitable safety precautions.
