Thoddoo Island made a strong and unified presence at the *I Am Maldives Roadshow 2026*, held on 13 April 2026 in Hong Kong and 15 April 2026 in Malaysia, continuing its strategic efforts to position itself as one of the Maldives’ most attractive local island destinations.

As in previous years, Ms Zulaikha Ibrahim, Founder and CEO of Shoreline Grand, took the initiative to bring together guesthouses from Thoddoo Island immediately after the Maldives Guesthouses Association (NHGAM) announced the roadshow and 14 guesthouses joining forces to promote the island collectively.

To support this initiative, the Thoddoo Local Authority Company funded the Hong Kong participation fee of USD 1,200. Meanwhile, the Malaysia table fee was shared equally among the 14 participating guesthouses, with each contributing just USD 80 demonstrating a collaborative and cost-effective approach to international marketing.

In total, 16 gift vouchers were distributed during the two events, each offering a 5-night stay in Thoddoo, giving travel agents and partners a valuable opportunity to experience the island firsthand.

Alongside the main “Thoddoo Maldives” promotional table, several properties also participated individually, including:

* Amazing View Guesthouse

* Belvedere

* Sands Hotel

Mr Moosa Farooq, Founder of Amazing view Guesthouse highlighted the potential of the roadshow, noting that such events open valuable opportunities for visibility and partnerships.

The 14 guesthouses that joined this collective effort are:

1. Shoreline Grand

2. Lagoon Villa

3. Amazing View Guest House

4. Thila Hotels

5. Sunnyside Inn

6. Avi Guesthouse

7. Sorenzo Maldives

8. Belena Maldives

9. Belvedere

10. Evila Inn

11. Rihiveli Residence

12. Ranvilu

13. Blue Coral

14. Kin’bi Inn

This marks the third consecutive international roadshow participation by Thoddoo guesthouses as a united group.

The journey began with the Baku and Tbilisi roadshows in December 2024, followed by the Central and Eastern Europe series in November 2025 across Warsaw, Bucharest, and Prague.

According to Mr Yazeed Ibrahim Managing director of Sands Hotel, continued participation in such roadshows is essential to maintaining and expanding Thoddoo’s presence in key tourism markets.

Thoddoo is rapidly gaining recognition as a leading local island destination in the Maldives. With nearly 80 guesthouses, it currently holds the distinction of having the highest number of tourist guesthouses on a single island in the country.

Recent developments, including the introduction of seaplane transfers, have significantly improved accessibility, making the island even more appealing to international travelers.

Despite this growth, Thoddoo remains committed to preserving its identity. Known for its rich agricultural heritage, over 70% of the island remains dedicated to farming, creating a unique blend of lush greenery and pristine beaches.

Development is carefully managed, with guesthouses built in designated areas to maintain this balance.

Today, Thoddoo has the capacity to accommodate over 1,500 guests, with continued expansion expected in the near future.

Through unity, strategic promotion, and a clear vision, Thoddoo Island continues to strengthen its position on the global tourism map proving that collaboration is key to sustainable success in the Maldives tourism industry.

Mr Hassan Sumeel, Managing Director of Belvedere Guesthouse and Mr Ibiza Ibrahim, Marketing Manager of Belena thanked NHGAM for organising this roadshow so flawlessly and for the closeness it keeps with Thoddoo island.
