The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has encouraged the community to focus on mental health and avoid disseminating false information after a number of recent tragic events that have led to considerable emotional distress among the public.

In a press release after several tragic fatalities, the Ministry urged the public and media to refrain from spreading unverified or inaccurate information, along with distressing images and videos of sensitive situations that might negatively impact others during these vulnerable times.

"We are profoundly worried about the recent tragic events in our community that have resulted in emotional turmoil." "We encourage all individuals to interact with empathy, accountability, and generosity," the statement said.

The Health Ministry stressed that every human life is a sacred responsibility. It observed that unfounded stories shared on social media can result in serious emotional effects for those with mental vulnerabilities and for the families of the departed. The Ministry, consequently, emphasized that messages of hope, motivation, and assistance should be prioritized.

"Every human life is a significant and treasured responsibility." Throughout life’s journey, everyone experiences instances of happiness and sadness. "The narratives we spread and the information we disseminate on social media can lead to lasting harm for those with mental vulnerabilities and the relatives of deceased individuals," the Ministry's statement continued.

Additionally, emphasizing that protecting each other’s well-being is a collective national duty, the Ministry urged families and friends to stay connected and check in on one another frequently.

"We urge families, friends, and the whole community to come together to look after each other's welfare and to provide support without bias." "Paying close attention to someone or performing a minor act of kindness can turn into a strong influence in preserving a life," the statement noted.

The National Mental Health Helpline (1677) has been set up to offer 24/7 psychological support for those facing mental health difficulties. The Ministry urged individuals in need to access this service promptly.

The Ministry is presently working with experts and appropriate organizations to enhance both immediate and future mental health services. Moreover, the government has reiterated its dedication to establishing a strong system that can provide lasting support to the community.

This request from the Ministry comes after multiple recent tragic events, with photos and videos of these occurrences still being shared on social media despite ongoing appeals from officials to stop these behaviors.
