The garments and blades reportedly utilized by Ali Shaahil, Finifenmaage, F. Nilandhoo, in the murder of 22-year-old artist Shiaau Mohamed Saeed were displayed in court on Monday.

Shiaau was discovered violently killed, her body beheaded and heavily mutilated, in an apartment on the ninth floor of H. Sheereen Villa on August 6, 2022. Certain accusations made against Shaahil in the case have been kept private.

The Criminal Court stated that the physical evidence pertinent to the case was presented before the hearing. The court presented three knives purportedly utilized by Shaahil, along with the T-shirt and shirt he wore on that day, to the bench.

The court indicated that further material evidence had also been submitted.

The court observed that when Shaahil completed his testimony and answered questions, the designated time for the summary statement had elapsed. Consequently, the hearing for the summary statement has been rescheduled to a later date.

On the 14th of this month, Shaahil was found guilty on certain charges in the Shiaau murder case and received a three-year prison sentence.

On August 7, 2022, the Criminal Court mandated that Shaahil stay in detention until his trial.

Authorities had earlier indicated that the autopsy results revealed Shiaau had sustained significant injuries post-mortem, and that the conclusions suggested she perished due to injuries caused by Shaahil.

The Criminal Court stated it anticipates issuing the final verdicts later this month.
