Ahmed Shareef Abdul Rahman Yoosuf, the Deputy Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), was dismissed on Wednesday.

A media officer from MTCC verified the termination to Sun, but offered no additional information.

He was said to be let go after directives from the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) aimed at decreasing personnel to lower expenses in state-owned enterprises.

Ahmed Shareef was formerly the Executive Director of Regional Airports Company Limited. He was named to a senior role at MTCC following the current administration's rise to power.

After the council elections on April 4, significant modifications are occurring in the governmental framework and in top roles within state-owned enterprises.

The adjustments are anticipated to be integral to the government's initiatives aimed at enhancing corporate governance and lowering expenses.

Shareef, originating from Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, was removed at a moment when the opposition MDP secured the Hinnavaru council positions and the PNC faced a significant loss on the island.
