For the first time in the history of the Maldives National University (MNU), a student with hearing impairment has earned his bachelor’s degree.
The graduate is Ismail Rahil, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
This marks the first instance of a hearing-impaired student graduating from a program of this level at the National University.
The Ministry of Higher Education shared a congratulatory message on social media, highlighting that Minister Dr. Ismail Shafiu had offered his congratulations.
After the announcement, numerous individuals emphasized that Rahil’s success demonstrates that hearing impairment does not hinder educational opportunities. His achievement is being honored as a beacon of hope and motivation for other students with disabilities seeking higher education.
