The national weather agency predicts that the Maldives will continue to experience intense rain and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.

The ongoing period of inclement weather has been linked to the transition of the monsoon seasons, as the Northeast or Iruvai Monsoon shifts into the Southwest or Hulhangu Monsoon.

On Monday, the Maldives Meteorological Service announced that it anticipates substantial rain accompanied by occasional heavy downpours and thunderstorms with winds reaching 40 miles per hour to continue for the next 24 hours, particularly affecting the central and southern areas.

Seas are anticipated to be moderate, turning rough during rain showers.

The Meteorological Service has announced a yellow alert for moderate thunderstorms in the Lh region. Atoll toward V. Atoll.

The alert remains active until at least 01:00 pm.

The Meteorological Service released a statement on Sunday indicating that it anticipates total rainfall, along with minimum and maximum temperatures, to be higher than usual across most areas of the nation from June through September.

The agency states that the prediction relies on April's climate conditions and the general patterns of rainfall and temperatures from June through September.
