Former President Mohamed Nasheed spearheaded a major demonstration in Male' on Wednesday night opposing what the MDP calls harassment and the illegal detention of reporters.

Numerous individuals participated in the rally, with groups crowding the Artificial Beach vicinity. The procession started from the MDP headquarters on Chaandhanee Magu, following a meeting led by Nasheed at the party camp. He subsequently took supporters to the streets, joined by high-ranking party officials and MPs.

Demonstrators walked along Majeedhee Magu before convening at Artificial Beach, urging for the swift release of detained journalists and advocating for enhanced safeguards for press freedom and freedom of expression.
