Authorities have confiscated a significant amount of illicit cigarettes reportedly intended for sale in Male' and Hulhumale'.

As per details shared on the police website, authorities seized 18 tobacco product cases and 75 cigarette cartons after receiving intelligence that multiple cigarette brands were being illegally imported into the nation for sale.

The goods were confiscated from a residence in Galolhu, a flat in Hulhumale' Phase Two, and a van thought to be linked to the operation.

Images published by law enforcement displayed boxes of Manchester cigarettes among the confiscated goods.

The car connected to the incident was towed by the police, but no arrests have been made so far.

Authorities stated that the inquiry is still in progress.
