Japan has officially donated a set of firefighting pumps and related equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

The presentation took place during a special handover ceremony, after which the National Disaster Management Authority transferred the equipment to the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service.

Japan has been a longstanding partner in enhancing the Maldives’ disaster response and maritime safety capabilities. Previously, Japan donated equipment valued at MVR 79 million (800 million yen) to the MNDF Coast Guard for maritime search and rescue missions.

The MNDF highlighted that Japan continues to provide assistance to the Maldives across various sectors.
