According to data from the Ministry of Tourism, there has been a decrease of 40,000 tourists visiting resorts in the Maldives this year.

According to the ministry's data, 660,000 visitors have arrived at Maldivian resorts this year. In the corresponding timeframe last year, 701,000 travelers arrived at resorts. This signifies a six percent decrease.

Simultaneously, 70 percent of visitors coming to the Maldives enjoy their vacations at resorts.

The decrease in tourists at resorts is linked to fewer visitors coming to the Maldives due to the conflict in the Middle East.

The overall amount of tourist arrivals in the Maldives this year has fallen by 4.1 percent in comparison to the corresponding period last year. Up to this point in the year, 950,000 visitors have landed in the Maldives.

Alongside resorts, the quantity of tourists frequenting guesthouses has similarly declined. Up to this point in the year, 223,000 travelers have stayed in guesthouses in the Maldives. In the corresponding period last year, 225,000 visitors came.

In the initial two days of this month, around 7,000 visitors came to the Maldives, marking a decline of nearly 21 percent in comparison to the previous year.

After a major decline in tourist arrivals to the Maldives beginning in March, the influx of tourists started to level off last month. Traditionally, the month of May sees a decline in tourist arrivals to the Maldives along European and Middle Eastern routes. In May, the largest influx of tourists comes to the Maldives from nations in the Asian region.
