Police officer faces inquiry for sexual abuse of a child

Authorities have initiated an inquiry into a current police officer charged with sexually abusing a minor.


A short statement issued by the police on Saturday reveals that the suspect has control over the victim.


The agency mentioned in the statement that the police were informed about the case on June.


The Family and Child Protection Department is conducting a criminal investigation into the police officer, who is also undergoing an administrative review by the Professional Standards Command.


The authorities have not revealed any further information regarding the case.


The Special Provisions Act addressing Child Sex Offenders establishes specific measures for handling child sex offenders during investigative and trial phases, imposing a prison term of 15 to 18 years if the offender is in a position of authority over the victim.
