A "Calm Room" has been established at Velana International Airport (VIA) to assist passengers with non-visible disabilities, physical ailments, and those needing special support.

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef inaugurated the facility at VIA's inaugural terminal.

MACL stated that the Calm Room is intended to offer a sensory-friendly space for travelers with special requirements and individuals who need extra assistance. The organization characterized the initiative as an important achievement in its attempts to enhance the airport's inclusivity and customer focus.

As per MACL, the Calm Room includes sensory resources and activities designed specifically for travelers who might face stress, anxiety, or sensory overload. Designated waiting areas are also provided for attendants accompanying these passengers.

Travelers desiring to access the Calm Room will receive a unique lanyard and card upon their request. MACL stated that the lanyard will assist staff in easily recognizing passengers needing extra help and guarantee they get prompt support.
