New ‘Sea Scout’ vessel launched as part of private‑sector push for sustainable coastal conservation

SAS e Construction Pvt Ltd has formally introduced the SAS e Sea Scout, the inaugural ship of its type in the Maldives.


The ship was revealed during a special event at the company’s Thilafushi location on the 8th of this month, in celebration of this year’s World Oceans Day.


The event was inaugurated by Minister Ali Shareef, responsible for Climate Change, Environment, and Energy.


During the ceremony, the Minister commended the initiative, mentioning that these efforts contribute to renewing the commitment to environmental protection and preserving the Maldives’ fragile marine ecosystems.


The SAS e Sea Scout aims to eliminate waste and plastic from coastal regions and adjacent waters. The company refers to it as a major advancement that demonstrates SAS e Construction’s dedication to eco-friendliness and sustainable business operations.


The event was graced by representatives from the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), SAS e Construction Managing Director Abdullah Sawad, investors, and staff members.


At the event, the Minister was awarded a plaque by the Managing Director.


The launch of the SAS e Sea Scout illustrates how creative ideas in the private sector can significantly aid in environmental conservation.



The firm states this is a significant achievement in its timeline and will enhance awareness about coastal protection while benefiting the entire community.
