The Rasfannu swimming area was reopened to the public on Friday after finishing repair and restoration efforts.

Sections of Rasfannu have been shut since April to allow for maintenance activities.

The Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure announced that the swimming area would be reopened on Friday morning following the finishing of necessary repairs.

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) executed the restoration project.

The ministry stated that the projects involved the installation of piping to enhance water flow in the sea and enhancements to the drainage system on the northern side of the region.

Although the swimming area is now open again, maintenance activities in other parts of Rasfannu continue.

The ministry expressed gratitude to the public for their support throughout the project's execution.

Rasfannu is overseen by the Malé City Council. The restoration initiative was initiated in response to community worries about the state of amenities in the region.

In February of the previous year, President Mohamed Muizzu announced that initiatives would be launched to revive Rasfannu and Sultan Park. Both sites were established during the tenure of former President Abdulla Yameen, where Muizzu acted as Minister of Housing.
