A local magistrate court has imposed a three-year prison sentence on a man for sexually assaulting a woman while she was asleep in her residence.

The offense that resulted in the conviction occurred in August of the previous year.

The man faced allegations of unlawfully entering a home and sexually assaulting a woman while she was asleep.

He filed two charges: sexual assault and trespassing.

He admitted guilt to both charges and requested the court for leniency in his sentencing.

Last week, a magistrate court delivered its decision, imposing a three-year prison term for sexual assault and an additional three months and two days for trespassing.
