Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has introduced a new digital platform called the "Harbour Portal" to facilitate vessel docking and permit applications within the lagoon of Velana International Airport (VIA). The platform aims to improve coordination and communication among vessel owners, operators, crew members, and relevant authorities.

MACL explained that the main goal of the portal is to create a transparent and efficient system for vessel registration and lagoon management. Additionally, the platform will enhance record-keeping and enable better monitoring of all operational activities involving vessels within the airport’s lagoon.

The company stated that the portal will be rolled out in multiple phases to ensure a smooth transition for users. The first phase will focus on vessel registration and raising awareness about the portal’s features. MACL has already held information sessions for vessel owners and is working closely with crew members to offer assistance with the registration process.

Vessel owners and operators will have until the end of next month to complete their registration. MACL emphasized that after the final phase of implementation, all vessels must register and obtain docking permits via the Harbour Portal prior to accessing lagoon services.

This new platform represents a significant step forward in managing maritime operations at VIA, where numerous vessels operate daily.
