The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has announced openings for three judges at the Criminal Court. According to the notice, Criminal Court judges earn a monthly salary of MVR 37,700, plus an allowance of MVR 22,300 and medical insurance coverage.

Candidates must hold a first degree in Islamic Sharia, Law, or a combined Law and Sharia program, and have a minimum of three years’ experience as a judge, lawyer, or both.

The JSC has stated that applications will be accepted until July 16. Interested applicants are required to submit their applications online via the JSC’s portal and also deliver a hard copy to the JSC office before the deadline.

These vacancies follow the appointment of former Criminal Court Judge Ismail Shafeeu to the High Court and the removal of Judge Hussain Faiz Rashad. Currently, the Criminal Court has a total of 12 judges.
