Deputy fisheries minister dismissed during fraud investigation

Mohamed Yaseen has been removed from his position as deputy minister at the Fisheries Ministry due to claims that he deceived several individuals out of funds.


Chief government representative Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) verified Yaseen’s termination in the matter on Saturday.


In response to inquiries about the case, a police spokesperson stated that the agency was looking into a matter concerning a person charged with deceiving several individuals out of money by claiming to secure apartments and land for them.


The police chose not to disclose any information.


Yaseen was designated as a deputy minister in the Fisheries Ministry on January 24, 2024.



Yaseen is still listed as a deputy minister on the Fisheries Ministry website. As per the details on the website, the ministry comprises 25 state ministers and deputy ministers.
