On Friday, a young man involved in a car accident was detained by police after officers responding to the scene discovered a rubber packet containing what they believe to be drugs inside the vehicle. 

Gais Abdulla Anees, 27, originally from GDh. Madaveli and currently residing in Male’, appeared at the Criminal Court on Saturday for his remand hearing.

He faces charges of using and possessing narcotics.

The court warrant indicates that police recovered a rubber packet containing suspected drugs from his car. 

Preliminary urine test results showed positive for CAT (methcathinone) and amphetamines.

The warrant also notes that he has a prior history of arrests related to similar offenses.

He was remanded into police custody for 15 days.

During the hearing, Gais requested additional time to secure legal representation.

The court ordered police to review his remand once he hires a lawyer.
