President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has offered his condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of Qatar, after the death of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the former Amir of Qatar.
In his message of condolence, President Muizzu conveyed deep sadness regarding the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, highlighting that his leadership played a crucial role in elevating Qatar to a position of international significance. The President remarked that the previous Amir's outstanding leadership, insight, and steadfast dedication to his people's development, along with the progress of the broader Arab and Islamic community, would be cherished for generations. He also mentioned that Sheikh Hamad's lasting legacy of peace, progress, and generosity would keep inspiring generations to come.
The President emphasized the former Amir's notable personal contributions to the progress of the Maldives, including the initiation of Qatar Airways operations in the nation and the founding of important institutions like Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani School and Masjid Al Sheikh Qasim Bin Al Thani, both of which still benefit the Maldivian populace.
President Muizzu, representing the Government and people of the Maldives, expressed his heartfelt sympathies to His Highness Sheikh Tamim, the Royal Family, and the citizens of the State of Qatar in this period of deep sorrow.
The President wrapped up his message by asking Almighty Allah to grant the late Amir everlasting peace and the highest positions in Jannah, while also providing strength and patience to His Highness Sheikh Tamim and the Royal Family during this time of mourning.
The President additionally conveyed a message on his official X account reflecting the same feelings.
