Chief Inspector of Police Mohamed Samih has been reassigned as the head of the Homicide and Death Investigation Unit.
Spokesperson Superintendent of Police Arif Baghir stated that after recent changes in the organizational structure, Samih has been reinstated to the role he previously occupied.
Samih was removed from his position after public outcry regarding the Police's response to the incident involving Hawwa Yumn Rasheed's fall from a high-rise in Male' on April 18, 2025.
At that time, he was moved to the Compliance and Quality Control unit for Investigations under the Central Command for Investigation.
One year later, he was reassigned as Chief of homicide investigations, signifying the first structural change made since the retirement of ex-Police Commissioner Ismail Naveen.
