Police and Corrections conclude a comprehensive three-week operation across prison facilities

The Maldives Police Service and the Maldives Correctional Service successfully carried out an extensive three-week joint operation to enhance security across the nation's prisons.


 


Spanning from June 22 to July 13, the operation was executed in four phases and encompassed Male’, Hulhumale’, Kaafu Maafushi, and Himmafushi. Led by Superintendent of Police Ishaq Adam and coordinated by Specialist Operations, the effort involved multi-agency teams working together.


 


Police reported that the operation integrated various specialized units. The SWAT team and canine unit from Specialist Operations, along with police from Male’, Hulhumale’, Drug Enforcement, and Marine Police, conducted thorough searches within the prison facilities and their surroundings. Additional support was provided by teams from protective security, media, intelligence, forensics, major crime investigation, and family and child protection services.


 


The Maldives Correctional Service described this as one of the most comprehensive and successful joint operations to date aimed at strengthening prison security. They emphasized that the coordinated approach enabled in-depth inspections and improved monitoring systems within the prisons.


 


Superintendent Ishaq expressed satisfaction with the high level of collaboration among different departments, noting that the operation achieved its goals through the unified efforts of all involved agencies. He highlighted that the combined expertise of police units and correctional officers allowed the operation to be completed effectively and with significant results.
