Police reported that two Egyptians involved in an altercation in K. Himmafushi have been expelled.

Authorities reported that a dispute occurred at 19:24 on Sunday. According to the agency, two Egyptian expatriates were apprehended in relation to the case and were held in custody for two days after appearing in court for a ruling on their detention.

Authorities stated that the Maldives Police Service has finalized its inquiry regarding the case. The authorities have made a request to Maldives Immigration to expel the suspects and bar them from reentering the Maldives.

It is important to point out that instances of brawling have become quite frequent lately. A 16-year-old boy was apprehended two days ago related to an altercation involving children in Hulhumale’s second phase. Young people and minors, along with occasional expatriates, frequently participate in these conflicts.

Authorities stated they are carefully observing these events and engaging on multiple fronts to minimize conflicts.
