The High Court has once more rejected the appeal filings presented for two convictions of Ali Shaahil from Finifenmaage, F. Nilandhoo, the main suspect in the horrific murder of Shiaau Mohamed Saeed.

As per the High Court registry, appeals lodged in a drug case and a pornography possession case were rejected on Thursday. Both instances had been rejected previously on one occasion.

Shiaau was discovered decapitated and extensively mutilated within an apartment on the ninth floor of H. Sheereen Villa in Male’ City on August 6, 2022, in what continues to be one of the most horrific crimes ever documented in the Maldives.

The specifics of certain allegations made against Shaahil in the murder case have been kept private. On August 7, 2022, the Criminal Court mandated that Shaahil stay in custody while awaiting trial.

Authorities previously stated that Shiaau’s autopsy report revealed she sustained significant injuries post-mortem, and the results suggested she perished from injuries caused by Shaahil.

The Criminal Court previously mentioned it anticipated issuing a ruling in the case later this month.
