Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has announced that its Specialist Outpatient Department (OPD) and other clinical services will be temporarily closed on Sunday, 26 July, and Monday, 27 July, in observance of the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day celebrations.
In a public notice issued on Friday, the hospital informed patients that specialist consultations and outpatient services will not be available during these two days.
However, IGMH confirmed that inpatient (IPD) and emergency services will continue to operate 24/7 without interruption, ensuring that patients in need of urgent care or hospital admission will still receive treatment throughout the holidays.
The hospital has advised the public to plan their appointments accordingly and to contact 333-5335 for more information about the service changes.
As the largest government tertiary healthcare facility in the Maldives and the main national referral hospital, IGMH expanded its capacity to 510 beds with the opening of its Multi-Speciality Surgical Wing in 2025. The hospital offers specialist healthcare services across various medical fields and serves patients from Malé, the Greater Malé Region, and islands nationwide.
