President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has conferred the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin on tourism pioneers Champa Hussain Afeef and Champa Mohamed Moosa in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the development of the Maldives' tourism industry and the national economy. The awards were presented during the country's 61st Independence Day celebrations, where they were among four recipients of the prestigious national honor.

Champa Hussain Afeef was recognized for his instrumental role in shaping the Maldivian tourism sector. He was involved in the establishment of Kurumba Village, the country's first tourist resort, helping to launch the Maldives' globally renowned resort tourism model. He also co-founded the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), where he currently serves as Chairman, and is a co-owner of Crown & Champa Resorts.

Champa Mohamed Moosa was honored for his wide-ranging contributions to tourism, business, and national development. Beginning his career in agriculture, he later founded Champa Wholesale, which became a leading supplier to the tourism industry. His business portfolio expanded into tourism, aviation, media, and financial services, including involvement in key infrastructure projects and the establishment of major financial institutions.

Moosa also founded DhiFM and DhiTV and has supported education through the Alifulhu Thuttu Foundation. Both Moosa and Afeef have previously received numerous national honors, and in 2024 they jointly received the Face of South Asia Tourism Award at the South Asian Travel Awards in recognition of their lasting impact on tourism across the region.
