Uber Events, the coordinator of the “Björn Again ABBA FOREVER” performance set for Thursday night at the Social Centre, reports it has incurred significant financial and administrative setbacks due to the event's cancellation.

In a statement, Uber Events expressed that it “deeply regrets” the cancellation, which it termed as unavoidable and a direct consequence of a last-minute order from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness rescinding venue approval while preparations were ongoing and the stage was already being built.

The company expressed the need to ensure complete transparency to sponsors, ticket holders, and the public about the rationale for the decision. The cancellation was revealed after Björn Again members were already heading to Maldives.

Uber Events stated that the decision has imposed considerable logistical, financial, and administrative burdens on the organization, adversely affecting local artists set to perform, sponsors who backed the event, and fans who bought tickets and were anticipating the show.

As a leading event organizer in the Maldives, Uber Events stated that its primary responsibility is to guarantee that every artist it hosts "honors and complies fully with the laws, regulations, and cultural values of the Maldives" throughout their visit. It stated that Björn Again was completely ready to adhere to all local regulations during their show.

The company expressed regret to all ticket holders for the letdown and announced that complete refunds for all ticket purchases will begin processing this week. It also offered apologies to members of Björn Again, local supporting artists, and operational partners who helped make the show possible.

Uber Events affirmed its dedication to bringing top-tier entertainment events to the Maldives and will persist in promoting a fair and stable regulatory landscape for the local events and entertainment sector.

The ministry stated it notified the organiser that the Social Centre stage's indoor hall, including its roof, needed urgent, extensive repairs and assured the organiser of support in relocating the event.
