The young man who disappeared from L. Gan on Wednesday has been located resting on a joali on the island and is thought to be in good condition, according to Gan Council President Afsal Jaufar.

A 'joali' is a classic lounge chair made from woven rope, created with either a solid frame or suspended from trees.

The council previously stated that a 22-year-old individual was missing, as his family indicated he had not been seen since midnight.

In a social media update at 18:30, the council announced that he was found to be in good condition.

Afsal informed Sun that the islanders, police, and the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) collaborated in the search efforts. Teams of about 10 individuals were sent throughout the island, and the young person was discovered lying on the joali in a grassy spot near the southern shore around sunset, he stated.

Afsal stated that MNDF officers found the youth. He was brought to Gan Hospital according to standard protocol for missing-person cases.

Afsal stated that the young man's status is still under assessment at the ER, but preliminary details suggest he is doing well.

The reason for his disappearance for several hours is still unknown.

Missing-person alerts are sometimes released on islands, and in many instances, the individuals are located soon after search efforts start.
